I had wanted to do a feature on Theo eyewear for The Gatehouse for a while. Because just taking photos from the site seemed hella boring, I had spoken to one of the guys working there about coming in to take photos, and he said it'd be fine, as long as I called ahead. So that's what I did, and Claire and I went to visit the store to take photos on Wednesday, the 21st :).
We met at the station, and made our way to the store, with only a small detour past Kruidvat to find some stuff there. Of course, they didn't have most of what I wanted, so we decided to check the one at shopping Groenplaats later.
Somers opticians, was as usual, a place full of glasses I would buy in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Which sadly, I can't. All my glasses are from there, of course, but if I want another pair I do need to save up (which I will).
You can read the entire piece on their designs here.
At first I was pretty convinced I wanted this to be my nex pair, but the more I think about it, the more I want to stick to black frames, as they go well with everything and I just like the way they look. I think that next I'll switch to that thick pair of traditional black catseye frames they have. Plus, I really like acetate frames, they are nigh industructable, and I like that in my glasses :). Their titanium frames are mega sturdy too, I just like acetate better I guess.
Top left one, those are the ones I really want if I ever need a new pair :)
After photographing all the things at Somers, we stopped by ICI PARIS XL in the little Groenplaats mall to check out new stuff. We had a look at Bart Smit toy store so I could see what I could buy for my nieces for the holidays (I like doing my shopping so early as to be done by the time December arrives). At the Kruidvat in the mall they did have what I was looking for, which was great.
We decided to go have lunch at Panos, and sadly it was the lunch rush. Which meant we had to sit outside on the terrasse. Weather wise that was fine, but sadly it's not a non-smoking terrasse, and that was a lot less fine XD. In hindsight, we should have gone for food first and done shopping later. Also, I wish that the Panos staff wasn't so undermanned, so they could keep an eye on the terasse. We had to ask some girls to move a little so we could sit too, which resulted in a lot of passive aggressive bitchiness (luckily they were smart enough not to start moaning to our faces). But seriously, 3 people for 3 tables? That's just taking the piss. It's only to be expected that someone asks to move from that table you don't need so they can sit to eat. It's like when you take the train or the bus, and someone is annoyed they have to move their bags off a seat so other passengers can sit too. Common courtesey people, it's just good manners and it's free and the right thing. But yeah, smoking is a disgusting habit, the end. It's not because you CAN smoke somewhere, that you fucking should.
After lunch we wanted to get a drink. We gave Starbucks a miss because Claire had already gotten Starbucks in the station. We checked Greenway, but they didn't have the juice I love so much, nor Bionina with Lemon which Claire loves. So we moved to Exki instead, which was very quiet (everyone was sitting outside) and we pretty much had the entire top floor to ourselves to eat cake and have a drink. Very awesome :).
On the way to Exki we stopped by M.U.D, where the shop girl was super friendly. Then a place I think was called Dermatologica, where the shop girl was super unfriendly and pushy and even challenged my paraben allergy "we have clients that are allergic and they use are products with parabens without problems." No, just NO. And WHAT THE FUCK. That's a brand I don't trust right off the bat, right there.
And of course M.A.C, where everyone was super friendly and we swatched a ton of things :). I am so getting Amber Lights eye shadow next month, oh yes!
Having made sure we would neither starve nor dehydrate, we wandered into the huge Christmas store, where we made goofy videos, which Claire will be editing for her channel.
They also sold these cool steampunk clocks at the Christmas store, but they were sadly really expensive.
At Flying Tiger, I found some toys for the spawn. Of course, we also profited of the decor of the Stadsfeestzaal mall for outfit shots.
Hair flower: H&M
Skirt: made it myself
Spats: made them myself
Our last stop was Mekanik Strip, where I was going to pick up comics, and found a Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur poster that Jens had put in my map because he knew it would make me happy. It did, many thanks to Jens! Much appreciated!
I actually managed to arrive close to my train leaving, whch was ace, so I managed to get home at a decent time for dinner :D.
Claire and I had an awesome time, and I already look forward to our next day of hanging out together :).
(All photos of me by Claire, obviously).
The haul :)
