|Last Friday steampunks went to Antwerp town

Last Friday was the first monthly meet (or at least we hope to make it a monthly thing) of the Artifakt steampunk collective. It was just the four of us, and we didn’t have a specific steampunk thing to do, but that didn’t stop us to dress up and hang out. We were all dressed pretty casually though, because the weather was pretty foul when it came to the heat.
Originally the plan had been to go to the European market: Fiesta Europa. But thanks to the website of Antwerp being inaccurate we missed that (the site got the date wrong, and it was in fact a week earlier than advertised). So instead we opted to go to the 8tea5 bubble tea bar.
Drawing by Laurens.
Bubble tea is awesome of course, but the shop was hot and we didn’t want to stick in one place forever. So after that we went to have a look at the Disney Store, because you know, it’s the Disney Store and it’s right around the corner from the bubble tea bar.
Make sure to hydrate in hot weather! Drink all the water! (or in our case: bubble tea but hey, details)
We did also check the Think Twice vintage shop in the street of the 8tea5 but found nothing. After another fruitless search for vintage reissued stuff in H&M (never diss the high street, they come up with marvellous bits and pieces at times), we went to the Horta restaurant to take photos on their stairs.
From there it was into the posh district for the Botanique (herbal garden/park type thing). With a stop at the Louis Vuitton shop window because you know, hot air balloons.
They did better in Cologne (Germany) last Septembers when they had tentacles in the shop window.
We looked at antiques we could no way afford
and sat around in the shade of the Botanique.
Had a look around in the toy store, which was literally across the street, for reasons of nostalgia.
And took some more photos.
Not sure what we’ll be doing next month, but hopefully it won’t be quite as boiling hot as June and July were!
