|FantastyVal, Fantasy in Wonderland - 15.6.2014

Last Sunday it was time for FantastyVal, a small fantasy fair in Wouwse Plantage, a small rural town in the Netherlands.
Bert and I had gone there last year as well, and I'm under the impression there was a smaller turn-out this year. Regardless, we had a good time :)
I did a proper review on The Gatehouse, which you can read here.
This year's theme was Fantasy in Wonderland, and for a moment I did consider wearing my steampunk Cheshire Cat outfit, but I wanted to take the penny farthing and riding it wearing a skirt is pretty hazardous. Riding it in a zipper skirt is undoubtedly outright dangerous, so I decided against it and just wore an outfit that was at least slightly in theme :)
I really need to get some more shorts for events where I'm taking the bike!
Because I got massively sunburnt at FantastyVal last year, I had not only smeared sunblock, but also point blank refused to wander about in bare shoulders. Because the temperature was a bit of a mixed bag I switched between my shrug and a brown cardigan. I was quite happy I brought both really. At least it didn't rain, because the event really wasn't forseen to that.
This photo was taking during one of the bright sun moments, hence me squinting at the camera XD.

We dropped off our stuff at the steampunk camp and went for a wander so we could gather material for reviews :)
Sadly I had forgotten to check the batteries of fujiroid brown, and OF COURSE they were empty. The guys of the Objective didn't have any with them either because no one needed them in the past. Typical :(
But you know, plenty of cameras left to play with :)
This guy had rebuild an old tractor into this! How awesome is that!
The bird of prey people had even brought a kookaburra.
They seemed pretty annoyed by people asking them questions though, and frankly I thought they could be a bit rude.
What also pissed me off to no end is that the birds were in the bleak sun most of the day. They had shadow for a bit, but not anymore as the day progressed, which made several birds extremely unhappy.
Don't think their owners provided shelter, of course not.
I really hate shit like that, I really wish organisations would stop booking these bird people in these circumstances. I realise it's not necessarily their fault, I bet they just figured that they'd take proper care of their animals on site, but when they notice that's not the case they should draw their conclusions.
I had garlick bread for lunch. I've had it at Elfia's in the past, from a stand ran by different people and I always quite liked it. This one, however, was DISGUSTING. They put in way too much garlick and the bread wasn't even warm X_x
At least it was cheap I suppose and not greasy meat.
We spend most of the afternoon hanging out with our friends of The Steampunk Objective :)
